"Flying against Tycho was probably the most difficult thing I'd ever done, and I had an edge in the Force. What he did, what Wedge did, without being able to use the Force made them far more special than any Jedi. They flew with their heart and brains and their entire being."

HOTAS is an acronym for the term Hands on Throttle And Stick. Basically it's just a term used to describe any flight system that uses both a throttle and a stick with plenty of programmable buttons. The goal is to provide enough function on the throttle and stick that you never have to take your hands off them to fiddle with the keyboard to activate functions on whatever it is you're piloting at the time.

I have a Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS, bought it 10 years ago, and it still works - best damn joystick I've ever had. I believe they are still on sale (or the equivalent), as the Cougar.
I'd recommend them too anyone
Tarn Davip
Mine doesnt work anymore. This was the best damn joystick I have ever seen/used. I use the Sidewinder 2 too right now. It is nice as well (but not as good as the FLCS was).
Terigo Master Pistoleer/Smuggler Commander of the Millennium Nuna
I've got the Logitech Wingman Force 3D and I find it a great stick to use, its has a grip to it plenty of buttons and a great responce to it though if your left handed you will not beable to use it as its only set up for right handed people but all in all a good stick
Thanks dude. Looks like the Evo is the stick for me.

Sorry for being such a nitpicker, but HOTAS was developed by the airforce to allow a pilot to keep his eyes outside the cockpit instead of refocusing between his target outside and his weapon/radar systems inside. Afaik the F15 was the first to have this feature. Thrustmaster brought HOTAS to the home gamer.
Just felt that several million dollar of US tax-payer money deserved the correct origin of the acronym

Well for one, I never said it originated as a computer term. I'm well aware of the fact that it started out in the military, assuming everyone else would realize this as well considering 90% of our technology originates from some form of military anyway.
In fact, if you replaced "keyboard" with "MFD" then our explanations would pretty much be the same anyway. I simply used the computer terminlogy of it rather than military because I know most people around here would relate easier to it and comprehend it easier than if I started spouting off about military technology in modern combat aircraft.

I use the Logitech 3D Extreme Pro and I must say it's a great stick. I love the throttle, twist rudder, and all the buttons on the stick and base. Although the base is a little big the joy stick is solid and smoothe in movement.
P.S. The Joy stick is CHEAP, and well made certainly a deal IMO.
