If I hear one more person complain about not having the uniforms the Rebels wore on Hoth, I'm going to scream. So, I decided to actually sit down with my collection of Rebel uniforms, grab some screens, and explain to the rest of the Alliance how to look like a Rebel. I'm going to tell you exactly what you need and show you images both in-game and from the movies. I've avoided listing prices for player crafted items, but for the stuff you need to purchase with FP, I've listed the bare minimum (Master Smuggler bonus).
Rebel Soldiers
Cold Weather Troops (Hoth gear)
Commandos (Endor gear)
Standard Troops (Corvette gear)
Rebel Officers
Dress Uniform (Home One)
Field Uniform (Yavin)
Mon Calamari (Home One)
Rebel Pilots
Standard Flight Suit
Cold Weather Flight Suit
Special Flight Suits
Rebel Armor
Marine Armor
Specforce Armor
This is what the Alliance wore on Hoth. With the exception of the headgear, every one of these items is in-game right now. Depending on rank and function, the Rebels wore different color varations. The ground crew wore dark brown/tan, the officers wore tan/off-white, and the troops that were out on the front lines wore off-white/white. All of the items you need are tailor-craftable, with the exception of the Marine backpack (which isn't an exact match anyway, but close enough). The ground crew colors are listed below and pictured in the in-game screen.
- Vested Jacket (default)
- Link Steel Reinforced Gloves (grey) (Cold Weather Gloves would be better, but they won't equip with the jacket)
- Large Pocket Pants (tan, match jacket)
- Paneled Boots (grey / white)
- Marine Armor Backpack (1125 FP minimum)
- Headgear - A swoop helmet can be used as a (poor) substitute
This is what the team of commandos wore on the ground at Endor. The helmet
was an old themepark reward (and you used to be able to get a second
from Kitster). Unfortunately, both ways of getting the helmet have been removed...
so if you don't already have one you'll have to pay out the nose for an item
that's no longer obtainable. Note that the NPC
commandos wear a "desert" variant.
- Spec Ops Jacket (default)
- Paramilitary Camos (match jacket)
- Formfitting Shirt (off-white)
- Ammo Bandolier (brown)
- Link Steel Reinforced Gloves (brown)
- Sturdy Boots (brown/green)
- ROTJ Helmet
The in-game screen is from the JTL trailer. As I'm not an Imperial myself,
I can't get up to their version of the 'vette to check these guys out. From
what I can see, they're wearing a light blue body suit, a black "scout" vest
and boots, and the sloping helmet. Two problems with this one... first, there's
no way to get the helmet (Devs, PLEASE give us some way to obtain this helmet).
Second, the vests they're wearing aren't craftable (for some reason). They
can be looted in all sorts of colors, but I've never seen a black one. I do
have dark grey, but it's not close enough (anyone on Sunrunner with a black
one get in touch with me... I'll pay a nice price for it).
- Work Slacks (gray)
- Simple Shirt (light blue)
- Uniform Boots (black)
- Scout Vest (black)
- Helmet
This is what you see General Madine and the command staff wearing before
the Battle of Endor. A publish or two back, NPCs ( Majors
and General variants) started popping up wearing this outfit (but with ribbed
pants). From what I can tell, lower ranking guys wear tan sleeves instead of
blue.
- Belted Jacket (default)
- Dress Slacks (tan to match jacket)
- Leather Gloves (black) (should be long leather gloves, but these can't be worn with the belted jacket)
- Uniform Boots (black)
The command staff at the Battle of Yavin (and the 'vette Captain) wore less formal outfits. Field uniforms, I guess. No in-game shot of this one... I'm still putting this outfit together and Dodonna is wearing his "ceromonial" gear in-game.
- Cold Weather Jacket (tan / brown)
- Thin Striped Pants (tan / brown)
- Simple Shirt (grey) (The corvette looted shirt would work here too, but you couldn't see the insignia)
- Uniform Boots (dark brown)
This is what the Mon Cal bridge crew wore during the Battle of Endor. The lower ranking guys wore brown, while Ackbar himself wore white. The in-game image is without the belt and with boots instead of shoes... but we're supposed to be a rag-tag bunch, so who says all our uniforms will be exactly alike? The high-rank (Ackbar) colors are listed.
- Short-sleeve Shirt (white)
- Pullover (cream)
- Multi-pocket Belt (cream)
- Striped Slacks (white / gold)
- Dress Shoes (white)
We don't really get a flight suit like what the Rebel pilots wore in the
movies... we get a unitard with a crack-strap that looks extrememly uncomfortable
to wear. Hopefully at some point the devs will add a true Rebel flight suit
thats not just skin-paint (I imagine it's possible to add detail, the AT-AT
& TIE suits have shoulder and / or chest armor added on). Also, Luke and Wedge
seem to be getting ready for Hoth... they've dropped the black gloves and boots
from the movie for white ones.
If there's one thing I'm sure every Rebel in the game wants... it's our own
pilot helmet. Personally, I'd drop an obscene amount of FP just to
own one. Everyone bug the devs.
- Fighter Flight Suit (craftable & themepark reward... the reward ones have /100 conditon instead of /1000)
- Uniform Boots (black)
- Long Leather Gloves (black)
- Helmet (We at least need this for JTL!)
Cold Weather Flight Suit - ( movie)
The closest thing to what the Hoth pilots wore would be a fighter flight suit with a closed rugged jacket and the chest box over that. I'd settle for the game letting me wear the rugged jacket (and maybe the pants) over the current fighter flight suit.
- Rugged Jacket (orange)
- Work Slacks (orange)
- Shirt (No idea what you'd use for this... white I suppose)
- Paneled Boots (gray / white)
- Leather Gloves (light gray / white) (cold weather would be best, but they'd remove the jacket)
There's also the other Rebel pilot outfits, in different colors and even
a few different helmets (Battle of Endor: Y and A-wing pilots). You can sub
in the different colors on crafted fighter flight suits, and there's always
the B-wing themepark reward (which actually has the chest controls and a better
neck-roll, but still is just a pair of tights). The other thing is that certain
non-humans might opt for the Heavy flightsuit (Trandoshans and Mon Cals come
to mind). Sorry for the action figure shot... it's the best example image
my search turned up.
- B-wing Flight Suit (thempark only, old ones are covert-wearable, new ones have +5 carbine/rifle mods and are overt only)
- Fighter Flight Suit (Red and Green)
- Heavy Flightsuit
- Uniform Boots (black)
- Long Leather Gloves (black)
By now, everyone's seen the concept art showing the Mon Cal in Marine armor... hence the lack of bracers and the big cone-head helmet. Marine armor is generally regarded as ugly and worthless, and to back that up I've only ever seen one peron wearing a full suit in-game... me.
Still, it's not that bad. A few changes could turn it around... namely making
the helmet change shape depending on the species of who's wearing it, and adding
bracers and gloves for full-body protection. I'm just speaking to the look of
it and possible usefulness... I'll leave the stat changes to the minds behind
the combat balance.
Oh, and while I'm at it... if you want to make it a true Rebel item, you need
to take it off NPCs that aren't Rebels. Having it on all the Spynet guys (and
countless others) is bad enough, but there's even a spot on Rori where Imperials
spawn wearing the Marine helmet. Imagine if random Rebels starting showing
up wearing stormie helmets!
- Marine Helmet (2250 fp)
- Marine Backpack (1125 fp)
- Marine Chest (3000 fp) (One with the Rebel insignia can be looted from the Corvette)
- Marine Leggings (2250 fp)
- Marine Left bicep (1500 fp)
- Marine Right bicep (1500 fp)
- Marine Boots (2250 fp)
If you really need to put together some Rebel armor and don't want to waste the FP, this is the way to go. It will also let you look like the higher end faction pets, for what it's worth.
- Marine Biceps (3000 fp for the set)
- Composite Bracers (red)
- Composite Boots (red)
- Padded Chest (Green / Blue)
- Padded Leggings (Green / Blue)
Basically, you can get most of the uniforms listed for a handfull of credits. Just find yourself a good tailor and tell them what you need. I've found that they're generally happy to work with you to get colors right, even if it means making throw-away items.
The factional items will cost a bit more. If you're not willing to work for
the FP, ask around for a smuggler that's ranked to Colonel in your faction...
but be prepared to spend between 100 - 200 credits per point.
As for the missing / removed items... bug the devs. If enough of us complain loud enough, they might listen. C'mon, you know you want that pilot helmet!
Anyway, I hope this is of use to all of you. If it's well recieved I have
another guide rattling around in my head... Rebel missions and waypoints.
