I like to play in 3rd person with my field of view set to maximum so I can see what's going on in the world around me. I actively manage my camera zoom with the mouse wheel and change my point of view frequently. At the same time, I will pull all the way into 1st person to look at things up close.
However, I do not like the "off the shoulder" view in 3rd person, nor do I like the horizontal shift that re-centers the camera when pulling all the way in from 3rd to 1st. This can be very disorienting when decorating.
I actively switch between cursor and target mode and removing the ability for having this on the 2nd mouse button has greatly hampered my gameplay.
The bottom line is that it's ok for you to encourage us to use your "preferred" keymappings but at the same time please give us back the ability to change them to something that we are comfortable with. Having a choice is always a good thing.

I play in 3rd person view with the camera backed out at least half way. I use the mouse to look, the direction keys to move. I really love talking naturally by just typing ( none of this pressing enter 1st rubbish)
I really want the old swg interface back, please, if it's not to much to ask for.
I use third person, way back, because I dislike the silly camera offset to the right. I would greatly prefer to see my camera reset to directly behind my character.
I would also like to be able to remap the mouse buttons to whatever I want. This way I could use right click to move forward and use the spacebar to fire off a special attack. I would also like to use center click to toggle between mouse modes.
Edit: I also toggle between both mouse modes. In cursor mode, it's easier to target things when my mouse can go anywhere without moving my view. I increased the deadzone so normal target mode is similar to how the game used to be

I play zoomed way out in 3rd person mode (always have). I also have the pre-NGE keymap layout thanks to MS's Intellipoint software. Of course I have to use my middle mouse button for specials execution.

I play 3rd person, with it all the way out. Only, when you got small things on the ground that you have to click on for quests, also know as "Fragments", i have to zoom in all the way.
Personally, i find having to keep the crosshairs on a small target during PvE to be hard, since they make weird moves, along with warping. it takes the whole Ranged part of the game out. Rifles are so slow that it doesnt matter if you have 75 meters to shoot them. either they warp, or they Move too fast and spaz out.

I play 100% in 3rd person mode. I also use the cursor, not the target reticle 100% of the time.
P.S. I normally zoom out as far as possible to get a better look at all the targets.

SWG Design Philosophy: If anything threatens the superiority of Jedi in battle, they must be automatically be reduced in power. The Jedi must win, all the while putting up a false guise of "profession balance" and "fair play".
